Step 1: You will first of all need to downloadthe compressed folder which holds all of the necessary files. You can downloadthe ZIP file from here.

Step 2: The file you have downloaded will benamed ‘cinject_0.4.3.zip’.Open that file up and extract the ‘cinject_0.4.3′ folder from within.

Step 3: Once the internal contents of thecompressed file have been extracted, place them into a location on yourcomputer, i.e. the desktop or the system’s C: drive.

Step 4: Connect your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to thecomputer using the USB cable.

Step 5: After you have found a suitable locationfor the ‘cinject_0.4.3‘folder, go to Start > and use the search function tosearch for Run then select it.

Step 6: A Run prompt will appear, in the box type in‘cmd.exe‘which will open up an instance of command prompt on your desktop.

Step 7: You will now need to change directory tothe location of the ‘cinject_0.4.3‘folder. For example, if you placed the folder onto your desktop then you wouldtype the command ‘cdDesktop/cinject_0.4.3′ toget into that directory.

Step 8: The next stage is where the fun begins.Executing the command line interface tool and letting it work its magic. In thecommand prompt you will need to type ‘cinject–i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig’. On your device you will see ascreen as shown below, tap on Install, just tap Next when it asks for a VPN passwordand then tap on Done.

Step 9: After the mobileconfig file has beenrun, the next step is to execute the payload. You do this by typing ‘cinject.exe -j payloads‘which jailbreaks the device and points it in the direction of the requiredpayloads.

Step 10: The penultimate step is run the ‘cinject.exe -w‘ commandwhich watches the system log.

Step 11: Now on your iPhone 4S or iPad 2, go into Settings> General > Network, scrolldown and go into VPN and toggle it ON. You should see ‘Aconfiguration error occurred’ message, dismiss it by pressing OK. Let it do itsthing, don’t be alarmed, at this point you’ll see an Apple logo on the screenand your device will reboot.

Step 11: After the above processes havecompleted, your device will have an ‘Absinthe’ icon, which looks just like anyother application. Tap this icon and the jailbreak process will be completed.Some users are seeing the Cydia application directly after the ‘cinject.exe-w‘ command is executed so if that happens to you, you can thenload Cydia right away.

Through the whole process, the commandprompt that you are working in will display a lot of information as eachcommand is executed. Some of this information may look erroneous, but it isperfectly normal. Refer to the ReadMe file which came bundled in the ‘cinject_0.4.3′compressed file for more information.

If you work in an environment where your smartphone is constantly in danger of getting water-damaged, you can either a. get yourself a heavy, rugged phone like the Motorola Defy or, starting today, b. apply a waterproof, internal coating from Liquipel!

The news comes from our friends over at The Unofficial Apple Weblog (or TUAW, as it is more popularly known) in the form of a short post in which they discuss how the technology-in-question works and how you can get use it with your own iPhone.

The waterproofing technology is called Liquipel (liquid repel) and it completely waterproofs your smartphone. Instead of using a traditional, external case, Liquipel uses a a nano coating that repels water at, well, the nano level. As TUAW puts it, it acts like a wax paper that simply refuses to absorb water.

From TUAW:

Yeah, it sounds too good to be true. But that really is an iPhone in the cylinder above. Liquipel claims to make your smartphone water resistant by bonding it inside and out with a "nano" coating which repels water. While this isn’t for deep sea diving, it appears to be an ideal solution if you are clumsy or happen to be around water quite a bit.

Now, there is both good news and bad news. The good news is, it is available in the market right now and costs just $59; a small price to pay, really, when you consider the potential water damages that you may have to incur. The bad news is, you can’t just apply the nano coating yourself. You have to send in your device to Liquipel, their people apply the coating and then you get your device back within 1-2 days.

Liquipel supports the Apple iPhone 3G/3GS/4/4S, HTC EVO 4G, EVO Shift 4G, MyTouch 4G, Thunderbolt, Motorola Droid X/X2 and the Samsung Charge.

There are a couple of very important, unanswered questions though: firstly, how does Liquipel apply the coating? Is the device disassembled? Secondly, will using Liquipel on a device void its manufacturer warranty? We don’t have answers to these questions yet, so you may want to wait for the official statement before sending in your device.

Liquipel hopes to work with manufacturers directly so their coating can come pre-installed.
